The fateful tale of Selene and Alexander is brought brilliantly to life in Cleopatra’s Daughter. Recounted in Selene’s youthful and engaging voice, it introduces a compelling cast of historical characters: Octavia, the emperor Octavian’s kind and compassionate sister, abandoned by Marc Antony for Cleopatra; Livia, Octavian’s bitter and jealous wife; Marcellus, Octavian’s handsome, flirtatious nephew and heir apparent; Tiberius, Livia’s sardonic son and Marcellus’s great rival for power; and Juba, Octavian’s watchful aide, whose honored position at court has far-reaching effects on the lives of the young Egyptian royals.

Based on meticulous research, Cleopatra’s Daughter is a fascinating portrait of imperial Rome and of the people and events of this glorious and most tumultuous period in human history. Emerging from the shadows of the past, Selene, a young woman of irresistible charm and preternatural intelligence, will capture your heart.

Cleopatra’s Daughter is a book group favorite, and with good reason: it has all the necessary ingredients to inspire lively conversation, and author Michelle Moran has gathered everything you need – including making herself available to join your meeting.

Sunnymay | January 16th, 2011

This book has the spice and sass I expect to see in any writing about the seductress, Cleopatra. Looks like a good book to savor and discuss amongst friends.

Veronica De La Cruz | May 22nd, 2011

I am in the middle of this book and i already love it but the video at the top is kind of a horrible way to describe the book. Cause this book isn’t about an anerexic pail girl who likes hugging and sitting its about the beautiful daughter of the most beautiful women in Egypt and the most charming and handsome man in Rome. The daughter of Cleopatra, Selene, is a bold, smart, beautiful, charming, 11 year old girl who is way more than some twig on TV who likes ‘pretty’ dresses you guys read the book its way better trust me!!!!
